We always use "minicom" to configure the RAID system, below for your reference: Download rpm package: (ftp://linux.sinica.edu.tw) "minicom-x.xx.x-xx.src.rpm" (need install "rpm-build-*.*-*" first) #rpm -ivh minicom-x.xx.x-xx.src.rpm (*minicom will active by default, if full install Linux 8 or later) run #minicom Press "Ctrl+a z" Press "o" to configure setting *serial port setting to /dev/ttys0 (com1) *115200 8,n,1 *save config
The terminal communications settings are not matching the settings of the controller RS-232 interface. Fix: The default settings for the RS-232 port are 115200 Baud rate, 8 Data bits, 1 Stop bit, No Parity, and NONE Flow control. Make sure the terminal is configured for these settings. If the settings were changed during Configuration Mode verify the settings of the controller in the RS-232 Params, Terminal option and change the terminal settings accordingly.
The second configuration performance better then first configuration. Because when you created 1 array 2 slices, every HDDs always random access. One HDDs random access performance only 3~5 MB/S, so performance is not good
The "CMP CMD" is "compute command". The CMP CMD command is the initializing or checking speed for Raid 3 and Raid 5. The fastest is 8, and the slower is 1. If you set cmp cmd=8 the controller will compute 8 command in the same time. (Under Construction)
First, you have to set Termination to disable from "Main Menu->SCSI Param" and then connect the SCSI device to Host channel port which has been disabled. Please make sure you have inserted a terminator the end of SCSI device.
Please make sure you have set correct setting of Baud Rate and COM port. The situation usually happens in different Baud Rate between Terminal program and Controller setting. The controller of Baud Rate usually sets 115200.
Incorrect termination in a daisy chain configuration or a loose cable in a stand-alone configuration. Fix: In a daisy chain configuration, verify that only the SCSI host adapter and the last SCSI device is terminated. To change termination settings of our controller, use the SCSI Params menu SCSI Termination option to enable or disable termination.
The SCSI ID set for controller is identical to the reserved SCSI ID used by the SCSI card in your system. Fix: Select the Set SCSI ID option from the SCSI Params menu and specify a different SCSI ID. Most SCSI host adapter cards reserve SCSI ID 7 for the card ID.
The SCSI ID set for the controller is being used by another SCSI device attached to the same SCSI card. Fix: Select the Set SCSI ID option from the SCSI Params menu and specify a different SCSI ID. Most SCSI host adapters provide an onboard ROM BIOS, or software utility, that displays the devices attached and their SCSI IDs. Disconnect XD SCSI DAS from the SCSI host adapter card and during the system boot, or by running the utility, note the SCSI IDs already in use.
Between enable with disable of AUTO INIT is doing parity or not when creating an Array. If you choice auto INIT disable to create an Array, the array will be created quickly but with non-parity. Therefore, when you used this kind of array and happened HDD fail situation, the array can not count the data back. Because of the controller has no basis to save the data. If the array with parity it can be counted back through parity.
First, you have to erase LUN mapping from "Main Menu-> SCSI Param" and then save config and restart the controller. You will find the LCD show "No Host LUN" after the controller boot up. And then erase Array from "Main Menu->RAID Param" and save config and restart the controller. It should shown "No RAID" when the Array has been erased.
Please make sure you have enabled Multiple LUN function from BIOS of SCSI HBA card.
The meaning is Array stripe size doesn't match as controller's setting. You can try the below steps to solve your problem. 1. Power off the controller and disconnect disks of controller. 2. Change the Stripe size from "Main Menu-> Edit Chassis" and then connect the disks to the controller. 3. Power on the controller to make sure the controller won't hang up and shows "Migrate Error". If it's still hanging up, change to another stripe size (Stripe size is from 128 to 8) and do the same steps as above again. 4. If it's successful, it will show "No Host LUN" and do LUN mapping from "Main Menu->SCSI Param" to get the Array back.
Please make sure you use a good quality of SCSI cable. The most of problem is caused by SCSI cable. You might change another SCSI cable.
If the error message "Array1 Exists!" Appeared, an array has already been configured. Quick Setup can only be used to new RAID arrays. Fix: Reconfigure the array from the RAID params submenu.
CMD Buff Empty means the RAID internal I/O process buffer is running out.
The total disks for one Array group are 48.
For set up an array over 2TB on XD-S/F112-316R and XD-T/G112-212R: Please select "RAID Params" "Slice over 2TB"  Yes  16Byte CDB (for Unix/Linux OS) or  Variable sector size (for Windows OS)  1k/sector (4T) or 2k/sector (8T) or 4k/sector (16T) For set up an array over 2TB on XD-D114-212/316R: Please select "Edit Chassis"  Block size  512K (default) or 1024 (4T) or 2048 (8T) or 4096(16T)
"QAS" means Quick Arbitration Selection; it needs to set a parameter to compatible with other SCSI HBA vendors. Therefore S/W proposes a "QAS" menu item to conform to SCSI HBA behavior. If you have connected a BBM (Battery Backup Module) with DAS, the "Shutdown" item It provides data safe when user wants to shutdown RAID system, the Shutdown function would shift data from memory to disks so that all data can be used completely and accessibly and save in disks. The procedures of shutdown function have to follow the step as shutdown host system first and then select shutdown function. Finally, power off RAID system when the terminal or LCD displays "SHUTDOWN OK!!"
You can use front panel of LCD keypad, press "ESC" key to express disable the beeper Alarm.
You can press "UP + DOWN" key to express refresh the LCD display.
For express delete an RAID select "RAID Params"  "Array 1"  "Re-conf RAID"  Yes, and "RAID level" None, and then "NVRAM"  "Update NVRAM"  Yes, Restart.

RTC is mean Real Time Clock for Real-time clock display & setting, with RTC function you can check the current time on the controller. On the Set RTC function, you can see MM/DD/YY W HH:MM (MM: Month; DD: Day; YY: Year W: Week HH: Hour; MM: Minute)
